LawAccess NSW staff can help people find out if legal aid is available and fill out the NSW Legal Aid Application Form over the phone. In 1992, the Disability Advocacy Service Hunter (DASH) acquired Self Advocacy Newcastle to advocate for all people with disabilities. In 2006, DASH and Advocacy Northwest merged to form Disability Advocacy NSW (DA) and gradually expanded to the Mid North Coast region. In 2010, the Commonwealth and New South Wales governments offered funding to establish a municipal law centre. Disability Advocacy NSW was the successful bidder in an open tender and the doors to the new Mid North Coast Legal Centre opened in mid-2011. A new Mid North Coast Legal Centre office opened in Coffs Harbour in 2019. To reflect the diversity of services offered and the alliance between legal and non-legal defence, Disability Advocacy NSW changed its name to Advocacy Law Alliance Inc and registered the trade names Mid North Coast Legal Centre and Disability Advocacy NSW. LawAccess NSW is the best place to solve a legal problem in New South Wales. This is a free government telephone service that provides legal information, advice and recommendations to people who have a legal problem in New South Wales.
